Tumblelog - What is it? Is it for Me?
Submitted by Carol on Tue, 2007-08-21 01:00. ::
I just learned that tumblelog has been here a long time but it just hasn't been popular (my opinion). When I saw what it looks and how it works, I fell in love with it. I have blogs but writing a story or blog thoughts just doesn't always work for me. That's the reason why I like Flick mobile posting to my blog. It just makes it so easy.
Ok back to tumblelog, I was googling tumblelog platform to get a site started, but I just found just one - gelatocms - an open source cms. I could probably use Wordpress or Drupal, but gelato is just so much easy to use (and install).
Filipino Recipes - Filipino Food, Origin and Influences
Submitted by Carol on Sat, 2007-08-18 20:47. :: filipino food | philippine recipes
I have this previously posted in tumblr.com but it got deleted, so I'm reposting it here and here alone.
------
Filipino recipes are a collection of traditions and diverse cultural influences of Philippine inhabitants. The main influences are Spanish because of Spain's 500 years colonization in the Philippines. Other influences are from Europe, America and neighboring Asian countries such as China and countries with Malay origins.

Sorry about the spam posts. It took me a while to delete them but they're gone. Unfortunately, registrations are now through email and I would have to approve them personally. It's unfortunate because I know that this is a good venue for pinoys to get together. However, spam technology just caught up with us.

Here's an interesting movie I found in Google Video about Pre-World War II Manila. You can see the old Manila, kalesa, tram in the city- old buildings, old structures.

Pinoy Directory
Submitted by Carol on Sat, 2006-10-21 16:56. :: pinoy directory | pinoy news
PinoySaAmerika is the brainchild of four friends and we've envisioned this site to be the site that will connect thru cyberspace all Pinoys in the US.
But as we've gone our separate ways, I was left to man PinoySaAmerika. To finally put that vision into action, we now have blogs that a registered member can use, forums for discussions and now a Pinoy directory where pinoy sites will be posted.
If you find sites that you'd like to add, please suggest them and I'll post them here as quickly as I can. Tell also your friends to visit our site and suggest their links too for all Pinoys to enjoy.

I know PinoySaAmerika needed a facelift but I've been postponing it for sometime now. Finally I got to it and I'm happy I did.
With the new PinoySaAmerika I could blog my heart away and continue to connect with my kababayans. Any Pinoy can also join in the fun and blog their stories with us.
I have lots of pictures and movies to share but just didn't got the time and the discipline to edit and post them. With my site's new look, I don't have any excuse anymore.
Talk to you soon and I hope you'll join me in PinoySaAmerika blog network.

For the past 2 years, I've been searching for ventures that I can pursue outside work that could be my future business. I've found some which made me money and some where I lost money with. But all these experiences, good or bad contributed to my learning experience.
I'd love to meet and talk to people who share my passion for finding opportunities. They strengthen my desire to become a better business person. One such person I met is JP. He has lots of things to share from investing on stocks to music and theater. One opportunity that he's proud of is his small business in unfranchise.com. Well he's successful with it, so I might give it a try.

When I go on vacation, I take pictures of the place and post them on my site http://homepage.mac.com/tanacm/Philippines
From time to time, I get emails asking for more details on about the place. Unfortunately, some of them I can't answer because I'm not paying too much attention to them while I was enjoying the place.
I'll try add more details but in the meantime, I'll post here questions I received and try to answer those that I can.

It the fall season again and for bargain hunters this is the best time to buy cheap airfare to Manila, Philippines.
I've been a loyal subscriber to Northwest Airlines Worldperks program and I've been taking full use of their fall offer. This year, unfortunately, I can't go. Why? I just came back!
Anyways, Northwest has opened it's Fall Cash and Miles - Asia Travel program. In a nutshell, you'll get great bargain on airfare to Manila with a certain number of mileage credits from your Worldperks account.

Have a pinoy recipe to share?
Submitted by Carol on Sat, 2006-10-14 16:57. :: filipino cooking
It's funny that when I was in the Philippines, I didn't even want to learn how to cook Pinoy food as they are readily available- homecooked by my mom. But being away from home and not knowing how to cook pinoy food is frustrating.
I remember the times when calling home to ask how a dish is cooked is a regular activity. But with pinoy cooks readily and willing to share their recipes online, we don't have to pay expensive phone calls for a recipe.
So, if you have a pinoy recipe to share, bring them on.
For this week, I added 2 new recipes to our Filipino "Pinoy" Cooking and Recipes. Check them out- kutsinta and crispy wanton wrapped chicken.
Arroyo's State of the Nation Address
Submitted by Carol on Sat, 2006-10-14 16:36. :: arroyo | philippine politics
It was yesterday that Philippine President Gloria Macapagal Arroyo delivered her State of the Nation Address amidst the cry of protesters who are gathered near Congress, for her to resign.
In her speech, Arroyo asked Congress to look at a fast overhaul of government - shifting to a parliamentary system from a presidential form of government. Reform in goverment structure has been the focus of her speech which she says is blocking the economy from "taking off." With this focus, Arroyo clearly avoided the issue of her impeachment which the opposition filed the same day.
Gloria Macapagal Arroyo's State of the Nation Address Today
Submitted by Carol on Sat, 2006-10-14 16:35. :: arroyo | gma | philippine politics
Filipinos have been waiting for Arroyo's address and today is the day that she will deliver her State of the Nation Address.
Expectations have been high and varied and that depends on which side of the political arena a Filipino is.
Those who are wanting Arroyo to resign, the content of her speech would not matter much as only her resignation is the key to reforms. For others, they would want to see evidence that Arroyo is really serious about introducing the much needed reforms in her government.
