Finally, we were able to get out and do this trip. We've been planning to go trekking but our schedules just won't synch. It's good my niece, Janiece went home for a vacation so we finally made it.
From Marikina, we took the route thru Antipolo and drove thru the mountain roads overlooking Laguna de Bay. That's one roller coaster ride! Lots of vehicles and obstacles on the road from cars, vans, trucks, tricycles, bicycles, people and animals, a typical experience driving to the province.
We really plan to visit Taytay Falls in Majayjay, Laguna, but on our way there, we decided to check out Pagsanjan Falls. Near the falls area, there are lots of resorts and local tour guides are flagging us along the way. We stopped at one and asked how much is the boath ride per person, they asked for P580 pesos. With eleven of us, that's too way off our budget.
So to Majayjay we went.
We enjoyed the road trip to Majayjay even if we have to make frequent stops to ask for directions. With 2 cars doing a convoy that is not easy. Sometimes our first car would stop at the corner of an intersection, so the second car would be stuck in the middle of the road! But that's not really a hassle as we have great fun!
There were 2 "toll fees" we paid, each one for P10 pesos per vehicle. That's for the use of the "access road" to the falls. Then we paid P20 per person to the baranggay where the entrance lot to the falls is.
Lunch is great after almost 3 hours drive (remember we went to Pansanjan and went back to Majayjay, hay!). After lunch, we're all set to hike to Taytay Falls. They said it's a good 10 minutes walk.
The pathway to the falls was paved and a stream of icy cold water, from the falls are flowing thru a manmade canal. The place was serene, the view of the mountain and forest is great and the breeze was cold. It's a relief from the heat.
After a good 10 minutes walk, the falls. It's clear and very refreshing.
At the falls area, there are lots of people bathing. While at the rock formation near the falls area, there are lots of campers. Tents and people everywhere. We learned that local tourists are setting up tents and camp there for the night. If you're into camping with friends or family, then this can be a place for you. If you just want to enjoy viewing a majestic falls, this might disappoint you.
Overall, Taytay Falls is a good place to visit. Just the trek to the falls will make the trip worthwhile.
