Evolution Park

C&P S'Mall in front of the Evolution Park in Marikina Heights' Marikina City. This is where we go for halo-halo, great for Manila's warm weather, buy books, go food shopping and get a bite of Filipino tasty hamburgers at Jollibee.

You've seen images of famous sights in Marikina that I've already featured, but there are lots more to see that will interest most Pinoys.

My brother, Bot and I started our morning walks which we also use to take images that we find interesting. We captured Marikina's not so famous sights such as the Marikina Evolution Park, the Marikina River Carabaos, the bicyle lanes that are everywhere in the city, Marikina's high school and elementary school in Marikina Heights, just by the creek but it's nowhere near the sight you would imagine if an area is near a creek. These school surroundings are fabulous! We also took images of the Marikina River Ampitheater and the Gazebo.

Part of Marikina's vision of becoming a "Little Singapore" is promoting Marikina as a center for arts, culture, sports and tourism in the Eastern Metropolitan and Rizal. To support that vision, Marikina has a new venue for arts and cultural exhibitions - Teatro Marikina.

Teatro Marikina is an impressive structure located at Shoe Ave., San Roque, Marikina City. We were not able to get in when we visited so I don't have pictures inside. I'll make sure I take some pics and make it available in my future post.

World of Butterflies, Marikina City

Marikina is a bustling city and pride itself as being a "Little Singapore" and it really is keeping up with the name. As part of Marikina's vision of environmental care and eco-tourism, it developed a butterfly farm or what is popularly known as the "World of Butterflies".

Getting there is easy for us. It's actually just a few blocks away from our home. The "World of Butterflies" is located near a school and some garden farms which are familiar sights in Marikina. I remember we bought some plants in this same garden farm which is in front of the "World of Butterflies" which was just a vacant lot then.
